Country-Western Two-Step (Bronze) Syllabus

This may the only Two Step disc most people will ever need. There are enough “moves” here to take you to the Intermediate Level, and, enough instructional “how to” to have you covering the dance floor comfortably – eventually. Beyond this disc you get into more “twisty and turn-y” figures that you may never have the time or space to do. For just going out, having fun, and “looking good” this will work well.

Unlike a lot of discs, there’s more than enough room on the “set” used in this production to learn early that it’s a fast moving walking dance that covers a lot of ground. That’s a “fact” missing on many discs where you can get the impression that you’ll be taking a few steps in a straight line now and then, but doing “moves” in-place most of the time. Here, you get shown as you learn that it’s all done “on the go” all the time.

Toby and Harmony Munroe make this all look very easy while they demonstrate an almost colorless set of examples and demos. On balance, that’s probably for the best because you’re paying here to see and hear how the dance is basically done, not to be impressed by big hats and belt buckles, fancy boots and swinging fringe, or, “Yee-haw” styling you can add later. For beginners this is a clean view of what to know and do.

Harmony fills in the lady’s side of the dance well and it’s always a welcome thing to see both sides of a dance demonstrated and explained thoroughly. There are always things they could have said, or, could shown differently, but if you have the time there is plenty of help here for both partners to learn their sides well.

Toby & Harmony Munroe are amazing dance professionals and not only are exceptional dancers, but their ability to teach and explain the technique involved while perfectly executing figures is unsurpassed. They really do a wonderful job with these new videos. For the casual social dancer, the Bronze level is probably sufficient. The serious, or competitive dancer would be interested in studying the Silver and Gold levels also. These videos are on average two hours in length and cover 15 dance syllabus figures.
