After working with this DVD, I felt disappointed that it wasn't what I was looking for, but hopeful that with some alterations in how it was described and marketed, it could be targeted to a more appropriate audience.
The provided description and title "Ballet Class for Beginners," to me, communicates that working with this DVD will be like taking a beginner's class from the comfort of one's home. However, that is not the case with this DVD. The DVD is more like a video dictionary of various ballet techniques, steps, and exercises--which would be great--if you had intended to rent a video dictionary. The instructor and dancer introduce a technique, model it once, usually only on one side of the body, remind you to be sure to do the technique on the other side of the body to balance it (but don't demonstrate,) and then move on to the next technique.
If you're looking for clear, video definitions of various ballet techniques--this is the video for you. However, if you're looking for more of a ballet class/workout--keep looking.
